These are the ongoing activities focused on men. You are invited to drop-in and try any of these groups, or contact Jerry Reece @ jerry.reece@sbcglobal.net or Keith Davis @ kedavis.09@gmail.com for more information. As Pastor Bryan reminds us, it is important for each of us to find a way to get involved in some aspect of church life. One or more of these groups may provide you a way to achieve that objective.
First, a word of explanation. The men at Grace Presbyterian are known as GMen. So whether you have attended one of these activities or not, if you are a man who attends Grace, you are a member of GMen.
GMen Ministry Meetings – On the third Tuesday evening of each month the men meet to plan activities of the ministry. Meetings are typically held in the library at 7:30 pm. Please come and observe and offer your opinion, if you like, on possible activities.
Men’s Breakfast – An informal group of men meet every Tuesday morning from 7:30 to 9:00 at Southfork Hotel on Central Expressway in Plano. This is a fellowship gathering for men; each man buys his own breakfast.
Saturday Morning Bible Study – This activity is held on the 1st and 3rd Saturday of each month in Grace Place, the house located on the east side of Idaho Drive adjacent to the northwest corner of the church parking lot. This group has used various topical studies of the Bible. Currently it is using the Serendipity Bible for Groups to study its way from Genesis to Revelations. Men are invited to join at any time as each lesson stands on its own. Breakfast snacks and coffee are provided.
Friday Morning Bible Study – This group gathers each Friday morning before work during the Plano Ind. School District’s school year. Meetings are open for fellowship starting at 6:45 am. Viewing of a Bible study video by a staff member of the Man In The Mirror organization starts promptly at 7:00. Discussion, the sharing of concerns and prayer follows. Each meeting is done by 8:00 am. Men are encouraged to drop in at any session. Meetings are held in the “garage room” at Grace Place, the house located on the east side of Idaho Drive adjacent to the northwest corner of the church parking lot. Donuts and coffee are provided.
Men’s Book Studies – These are groups that meet to study a book of their choosing. Books have included “Man In The Mirror”, “The Jesus I Never Knew”, The Purpose Driven Church”, “Presbyterian Creeds”, “The Case For A Creator”, “Coming Back to God”, “Seven Seasons of the Man in the Mirror”, “The Shack” and “Doubts about Darwin.” A group is currently meeting at noon every Thursday in the church Parlor. Men can form new groups or join the Thursday noon group at any time.
Top Gun Program – This program is an in-depth nine-month (34 week) program, designed to model, teach, and encourage practical application of biblical principles. It is a great resource for building fully-devoted followers of Jesus. Small groups of men study a curriculum that requires them to stretch themselves in their faith journey. Men who enroll in the program must be devoted to completion of homework before each meeting and regular attendance. The registration deadline is usually mid-August and a new program starts in September of each year.

Special Events – Periodically during the year the GMen have special events such as all church men’s breakfast, Cowboy viewing luncheons, special on-site speakers and off-site events such as Promise Keepers conferences and prison ministry. These events are publicized in the church newsletter and weekly bulletin. We also volunteer to help other groups in a variety of ways. If you would just like to be notified when one of these special opportunities arise, let Jerry or me know.
Bulletin Folding Team – This group of dedicated men gather each Friday morning at 9:00 am to print, fold and stuff Sunday worship bulletins.
All men are invited to drop in or participate in any of these events. I truly hope that you will investigate one or more of these activities or consider starting a group of your own. The GMen ministry group that meets on the third Tuesday of each month is always willing to help you start a new activity or group. If you are interested in finding out more about any of these events, call Jerry Reece at 214-215-2490 or Keith Davis at 214-810-1330.
