Deacon - What is it?
Deacons are church members who promote fellowship, love, care and prayer among our church members. At Grace Presbyterian Church (GPC), the Deacons are part of the Nurture Council. The personal qualifications of a deacon are called out in 1Timothy 3:8-13. Deacons, like other elected officers of the church, are called not to suit themselves or to make themselves look good, but to serve the Lord and the unity of the church. The deacons can best be described as “the caring arm of the church”.
Deacon responsibilities can best be summed up by the following acrostic:
2010 Moderator of the Deacons is Lynn McCoy. The geographic area of North Texas, served by GPC is divided into eight (8) parishes or areas. Each parish is served by three or four deacons who are here to serve you and your family in whatever way you need. They are here to help you.
